China and Japan are both located in the East Asia, there are lots of similarities and familiarities between them, at the same time, a lot of differences and misunderstandings. In the time of globalization, we both accept new things, but still keep traditional essence according to our two countries’ characters. In this context, Chinese and Japanese artists, like sceneries in the mirror, have their own particular collective identities, on the other hand, every artist in the same context still has his/her own concern and unique expression.

PREFACE
China and Japan are both located in the East Asia, there are lots of similarities and familiarities between them, at the same time, a lot of differences and misunderstandings. In the time of globalization, we both accept new things, but still keep traditional essence according to our two countries’ characters. In this context, Chinese and Japanese artists, like sceneries in the mirror, have their own distinct collective identities, on the other hand, every artist in the same context still has his/her own concern and unique expression.
To some extent, every artist participating in this exhibition has a particular energetic 'field', a spiritual 'garden'. Their works express themselves in the relationship between tradition and modernity, which makes them become the representatives of their own culture, and the world is transformed into a strong 'image'. They do not just graft the traditional onto the modern, but express their concern of the world in an ultimate level. The traditional culture we mention all the time has no virtually fixed scope. The abstract culture tend to present itself through individual expression. In this sense, we discuss the 'micro garden'.
