In this exhibition, Renke Art Gallery invites 12 artists with distinctive artistic styles, in fields of traditional Chinese ink art as well as the contemporary ink painting. Renke will represent them by means of comparison and dialogue. The traditional Chinese brushwork and the contemporary painting language echo to each other, they communicate, tangle, and interchange with each other silmultaneously.

孔国桥 / Kong Guoqiao

 

1968 Born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China

1986 Entered Dept. of Printmaking, Zhejiang Academy of Fine Art (now China Academy of Art, CAA)

1993 Graduated with a Master Degree, remained as a tutor

1997-1998 Studied in Ulster University, UK, worked in the printmaking studio

2007 Graduated from the first CAA“Theory and Practice of Painting” PHD program, received his PHD

 

Currently Professor, CAA;

PHD tutor and director of the Printmaking Department;

Member of CAA Printmaking Society;

Director of the Zhejiang Province Fine Arts Society;

Lead secretary of the Zhejiang Society of Printmakers

PREFACE



In this exhibition, Renke Art Gallery invites 12 artists with distinctive artistic styles, in fields of traditional Chinese ink art as well as the contemporary ink painting. Renke will represent them by means of comparison and dialogue. The traditional Chinese brushwork and the contemporary painting language echo to each other, they communicate, tangle, and interchange with each other silmultaneously.


This invitational exhibition is aiming at finding a view on the other perspective that is so familiar yet so strange, similar yet different, profound yet subtle, close yet remote, to discover and reflect on the zeitgeist of this era, to reveal and express the thoughts and feelings of Chinese contemporary artists.

 

This is not only a static exhibition, it will also present the dialogue, communication and exchange between different artists. It is a dynamic exhibition, in an attitude of academic research and exchange, the exhibition will focus on the difference and relationship between various painting styles, genders, and experiences, focus on the learning and borrowing between different artists. Renke Gallery presents this exhibition as an opportunity to promote the research of contemporary Chinese ink painting, at the same time, provide an sample of the emergence and construction of Chinese contemporary multiple artistic presentations.
